A CBD Holiday Survival Guide

The holidays are that beautiful time of year when we all come together to enjoy the people in our lives who we are most thankful to know. On the other hand, they are also a time when we have to endure some of the family members who drive us the most nuts. It’s a double-edged sword, and we can all use a little help navigating our emotions between the weekend parties with friends and the midweek potlucks at our workplaces. CBD products have been a godsend for many people who experience year-round stress and anxiety, so why not incorporate this calming cannabinoid into your holiday routine.

CBD, also known as cannabidiol, is a chemical compound derived from hemp or marijuana plants. It acts on cannabinoid receptors in your brain, which are part of your body’s endocannabinoid system. This is the system that regulates things like mood, memory, appetite, and pain sensation. For this reason, CBD is a particularly useful tool in treating things like anxiety, pain, and sleeplessness. All these feelings can go hand in hand with the holidays, so it’s nice to have a natural product that can help ease them.

CBD for Relieving Travel Stress

Since so many of us travel for the holidays, the increased traffic can turn an already stressful endeavor into a real nightmare. Anyone who has ever spent a holiday evening napping in a packed airport can attest to this. Taking CBD products before flying can help ease your stress and put you in more blissful mood. They even sell CBD products specifically formulated for animals, so if you are traveling with a four-legged friend that has travel anxiety, you now have another weapon in your arsenal to keep both you and your pet calm.

The 2018 Farm bill made CBD products containing less than 0.3% THC legal across the country, and in May of 2019, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) updated their rules, allowing passengers to travel with CBD. If your CBD is derived from hemp, rather than marijuana, this shouldn’t be a problem. If your CBD is marijuana-derived, you may want to take a look at the label. As long as your CBD is reputably sourced, it should contain all the necessary information on the label to put even the most scrupulous TSA agent at ease.

This is all great news for travelers, because not only does it mean you can bring your CBD on the flight, but it means that you don’t need to find a reputable source when you arrive at your destination. Be careful, though, if you are traveling overseas. Not all countries allow you to bring CBD across their borders, so you will want to do some research to find out what kind of rules have been imposed by your destination country.

CBD Oil for a Good Mood

One of the primary benefits of CBD is its amazing ability to lighten your mood. There are few other times of the year when this benefit comes in more handy. It’s nice to bring a few gummies along to the holiday parties that you know carry the possibility of becoming tense in any way. Do you have an uncle who is guaranteed to go on a political rant? Do you have a mother who will ask you a dozen questions about your marriage plans, even though you aren’t seeing anyone? It’s nice to have CBD on hand when you need to tackle the tough subjects with your family, bless their hearts.

CBD Cocktails and Hangover Cure

CBD cocktails have become all the rage since legalization placed tinctures at the fingertips of mixologists around the country. CBD tinctures are infused into an alcohol base, so they mix nicely into your drink of choice. Since they come in so many great flavors, they add complex and delicious flavors in addition to turning your drink into a tonic for relaxation. Be sure not to add too much CBD to your drink, or it may make you sleepy. Most bartenders and mixologists recommend somewhere between 10 and 15mg CBD per drink for a perfect balance. It’s always good to start with a smaller amount and work your way up as you learn more about your perfect dose.

Another added benefit of CBD is its ability to reduce nausea. This can be a lifesaver the morning after a big party because it can help make the worst hangovers considerably more bearable. Try putting a little CBD oil in your coffee, or take a pull from a CBD cartridge in a vape pen, if you want to feel the effects more immediately.

Whatever your plans, plan to bring some CBD along. It’s also always a good idea to bring a little extra for the loved ones who need help taking the edge off. It’s a great gift to spread around. Is there any wonder why CBD and holidays are becoming a December pairing as traditional as brandy and eggnog?
